THE ANDALUSIAN GARDEN
We were delighted to design the Andalusian Garden, a designer show garden for Taunton Flower Show 2025. The garden finds inspiration in the beautiful gardens and landscapes of Andalusia in Spain. The region is profoundly influenced Moorish landscape principles, whereby despite arid conditions, its gardens serve as serene oases of respite and inspiration.
The garden reimagines that character through a calm, intimate seating area framed by earthy terracotta walls and upright columns. Rising above the planting, these structures are adorned with geometric patterns commonly found in Moorish architecture. Contrasting blue patterned Andalusian tiling covers the front edge of the garden. A central macramé hangs from the central wall, a textile method which was introduced to Europe by the Moors.
The planting is drought-tolerant yet rich in sensory appeal, featuring aromatic and fruiting species traditionally found in Moorish gardens. Shades of pink, burgundy, blue and yellow thread through the flowers and foliage, offering vivid contrast against the warm terracotta tones of the paths and structures.
We were very excited to win the People's Choice Award and Silver-Gilt medal for the garden.
